    Description

Up for auction/sale is a wine/beverage decanter with 5 matching glasses I picked up from an elderly woman’s estate sale. The artwork surrounding the decanter and glasses appears to be a Bavarian, Dutch Colonial, or French style of dress, but that’s just a guess on my part. As regards any indicators, the only mark is an “R” just to the right of one of the trees on each of the glasses. Otherwise, I see absolutely no markings on the decanter or its glass stopper.
I searched all over eBay and used Google trying to find a similarly styled decanter and glasses, but had absolutely no luck… What’s also unique about this set is the prolific inclusion of air bubbles in the glass, which gives a great effect, but does cause a very miniscule amount of roughness along the polished glass drinking surface. Otherwise the decanter and glasses are in great shape and I noticed/felt no chips, cracks, or damage of any sort.
The artwork appears to be a form of polychrome enamel, but it is not hand painted as the artwork is too perfect. Since the art lays flat on the surface with no wrinkles, I don’t believe it could be any type of sticker or appliqué. Again, I’m no expert with glass but the only imperfections I found for the artwork is where it overlays on an exposed surface bubble in the glass.
As regards measurements, the decanter is quite heavy, stands roughly 13 ½” T (with the stopper in place), and holds 80 oz when measured where liquid enters the neck. The glass stopper is 3 ¾” with a full 2” going into the bottle and although it’s thick, there is a hollow center. The glasses are 3 ½” T with a 3 ½: opening, have a slight concave between the weighted base and the opening, and hold 12 oz when completely full.
I’d like to provide a better description and history, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ve provided several high resolution photos of the decanter, stopper, and glasses from varying angle trying to capture the artwork, bubbles, quality, and condition of the set.
This will be packaged securely to best ensure this set arrives as pictured and displayed.
